Bombay Gnanam is a well-known public figure who is involved in Tamil Theatre, Film and Television Serials. She founded Mahalakshmi Ladies Drama Group Trust in the year 1989 and has successfully staged 22 stage productions over the last 30 years. She trains her actors personally and she oversees her stage productions. Over 500 aspiring actors have benefitted from her unique and passionate teaching and are successful artists in the industry. Her contributions have been greatly appreciated and in recognition she has been bestowed with Kalaimamani State Award which she received from Late. Chief Minister Selvi J. Jayalalitha. She is also the recipient of many Tamil Theatre Sabha Awards.
